Visual Symbiosis project / Visual Symbiosis Exhibition (1997-2020) / Archive
Visual Symbiosis Project explores ways in which various media and ideas interact, co-exist or depend upon each other as singularly new narrative form or enhance its own traditional essence. The project emphasizes on visual media such as photography, motion pictures, sound, graphic and space design. Selected works will be in series of exhibitions and in form of small film festival throughout the year (2016 - 2020). Visual Symbiosis works in collaboration with various universities and institutes, including art galleries and business sectors.
Visual Symbiosis Project involves both directly and indirectly in series of exhibitions, art and film festival on international stages. During 2019-2020 projects, in collaboration with Khonkaen Manifesto / MAIELIE (in association with MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum), artists’ works in part of Visual Symbiosis were selected to participate in Biennale Jogja XV Equator #5 at Yogyakarta, Indonesia (October 18-24,2019). The art festival took place around Special Region of Yogyakarta including Jogja National Museum (October - November 2019). On part of Khonkaen Manifesto / Visual Symbiosis, series of works such as video and media had been installed in a historic district.
Visual Symbiosis Film Festival (April 2019) at the Chinatown Rama. Bangkok - The place was selected for its cultural significance, a sense of history and transitions, also architectural style. Moreover, the theater possess authentic scent of the past, with rotten interior, smell of underground sewer in eternal summer heat, hundred of cats all over the place, street food and community who live there. The film festival run a few minutes before midnight until 04.00 AM in the morning.
Adjustment during the pandemic :
Due to Coronavirus pandemic, all of 2020 activities had been altered. All works that required installation within gallery space had been cancelled. All (small) film festivals had been postponed. Some works were intentionally designed to be on-line with multi platforms. - However - when most of "off line works" moved online (because of the pandemic), storage space and bandwidth became overloaded, and everything needed to be re-designed.
Proto-Visual Symbiosis : refers to early projects from 1997 to 2015 with the same concept under different names.

(any kind of) cross genre, fiction or non fiction, combination of fictional + non-fictional narrative, non narrative with strong visual elements, combination of media and/or media installation, soundscapes with proposal of possible space design, still photographs with strong contents and innovative presentation design (concerning limitation of exhibition space)

Invitation - project committee invite film makers / artists
